Tucson Police Department Alarm Unit
Creating a partnership with the community of Tucson to increase the effectiveness
of their alarm systems.

The Tucson Police Department Alarm Unit enforces the City of Tucson Alarm Ordinance #9755, which regulates Alarm Users, Alarm Businesses, Alarm Agents, and Monitoring Companies. The City of Tucson's Alarm Ordinance is intended to encourage the improvement in reliability of alarm systems and devices to reduce the incidence of false alarms at businesses and residential structures, thereby ensuring that police personnel will not be diverted from responding to actual criminal activity.

Together with the Tucson Police Department you, too, can help reduce the number of false alarms. Here is a list of resources to aid in doing your part:

Alarm Businesses
Pursuant to City of Tucson Ordinance 9755, sections 7-450 through 7-464, each  alarm company doing business in the City of Tucson is required to be licensed  as well as their agents (any person doing installations or service technician).

Alarm User Awareness Class
If you have been issued a citation for sections 11-2.5(A)(3) or 11-2.5(A)(4) and this is your first violation you may attend an Alarm User Awareness Class.

Tucson City Ordinance 9755 section 11-2.6(D) "…allow a person found  responsible for the first false alarm civil infraction under section 11-2.5(A)(3)  or (4) shall have the civil infraction dismissed upon proof to the Court, within  ninety (90) days of the initial appearance date, or attendance at an alarm user  course which has been approved by the Tucson Police Department."

You may be eligible to attend an alarm user course if you meet ALL of the following conditions:

Advantages of Attending the Alarm User Awareness Class

To attend this course, you must enroll on or before the court appearance date on your alarm violation citation, and complete the course within 90 days of your initial court appearance date. Alarm User Awareness Class Schedule
The class is offered the second Thursday of each month.

Penalties
As outlined per Tucson City Code section 11-2.6 and Subsections (B) and (C).

(B) "A person found responsible for a violation of section 11-2.5(A)(3) shall pay a penalty as follows":

False Panic, Holdup, or Silent Duress Alarm Within 365-days

(C) "A person found responsible for a violation of section 11-2.5(A)(4) shall pay a minimum penalty as follows":

False Excessive Alarms Within 365-days
